It’s official:
2023 is the year of magenta

Pantone Color Institute’s latest pick is none other than Viva Magenta 18-750, which it describes as “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength.”

Here’s where BE finds that color in nature.

Dianthus ‘Whatfield Magenta’ (Pink) is a compact evergreen perennial boasting masses of single, slightly fragrant magenta flowers adorned with a rose throat. Blooming in summer, the vibrant blossoms rise on short stems above a low cushion of grassy, blue-green leaves.

Antirrhinum majus ‘Chantilly Pink’ “Snapdragon”

Flirtatious pink blooms on 2-3′ flower spikes are perfect for adding a punch of color that lasts from Spring well into Fall. The Chantilly Snaps are notable for their tall, sturdy stems that ensure all your blooms reach confidently for the sky & stay that way.

Pink/Magenta Whopper begonia is a hardy perennial that brings bright blooms to home and garden for the majority of the year. They come in many shapes, colors, and sizes. They are easy to grow and can be the center of any garden, and they even grow well indoor.

Peonies are perennials that come back every year to take your breath away. In fact, the plants may live longer than you do—some have been known to thrive for at least 100 years. The peony is outrageously beautiful in bloom with the fattest, most scrumptious flowers and lush green foliage. Enjoy breathtaking flowers from spring to summer.

Phlox sport many star-shaped, colorful flowers when in bloom. Because there are so many varieties and types (many of which are native to North America), you can find a phlox for almost any garden. Truly, their versatility can’t be overstated.

• Low-growing or creeping phlox work great as ground cover.

• Tall phlox are excellent as a colorful backdrop.

• Medium-height varieties can fill in any gaps!

Roses are a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa. There are over three hundred species of roses. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Their flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colors ranging from white through yellows and reds.

Petunias are one of the most popular flowering annuals. They have a long flowering period, are easy to grow and are available in many forms and colors. Petunias can be found in every color of the rainbow in solids, contrasting veins or edges, and star patterns. The flowers may be large or small, ruffled, fringed, or double. They bloom from spring until frost.
