Look up!

Leaves are finally sprouting from your trees!

At BE we are passionate about your property’s trees. Trees provide shade and erosion control, add to property values, lower building heating and cooling costs, remove pollutants from the air, cut stormwater runoff and help lower stress!

This episode of our weekly “infotainment” e-news gives you a bit of information on late spring tree care. Maybe find a shady spot under your local tree to read this on your mobile device!

Fertilization = Tree Vitamins

Tree fertilization can be done if the ground is not frozen or there are no large puddles of water around the tree.

Fungicide = Disease Prevention

Fungicide applications can be done if buds have popped for crabapples and pear trees. Hawthorns, pines and spruce trees first applications usually start at the time of the second round of fungicide applications for the crabs and pears, usually late April.

Mulch = Protection

Mulching around the base of trees in the spring protects trees and plant roots from sun and drought. We mulch in May with a layer 2.5-3” thick to protect your trees.

Water = Healthy Trees

Spring or summer droughts can be very tough on trees. BE creates irrigation plans for trees and turf to make sure all of your landscape stays healthy, while also being cognizant of water conservation needs.

Climate change = cannot rely on the calendar

With the advancement of climate issues, you cannot always rely on the calendar entirely for scheduling landscaping activities. BE watches the stages of development of plants and upcoming weather patterns to plan irrigation and other tree care needs.

Insecticides = No Pests Allowed!

Soil drenching is the process of adding diluted control products directly to the base of a tree. Insecticide soil drench can be done for all deciduous trees to help control leaf feeding insects and scale. This treatment lasts for 1 growing year.
